Maybe an iPhone isn't so bad
I'm currently a Black Jack II owner and it's honestly the only phone I've ever had that I can actually say I love.
I've had everything from the basic radio shack cell phone to the original blackberrys, new blackberrys(curve, pearl, worldphone, etc...), windows MDAs, Q's, Treo's, the tilt, Razors, etc.., but I just love my BlackJack II. It's great, it's Windows based, it syncs with Exchange (for free), it syncs sub-folders, contacts, calendar, it doesn't freak out if my network password changes, it's small but still has a full keyboard, It's got a mico SD card slot, I can load it up with MP3's and use it as an portable music player, it's easy to navigate around with it's little dial thingy, the battery lasts for 3 days even if I use it and I can set up a million POP3 or IMAP email accounts and they all stay separate. There is a ton of games available for it, it's got Bluetooth and GPS, google maps works like a champ. I love this phone.
What doesn't it do? I'll tell you what it doesn't do, it doesn't cost $99 to replace it when I drop it on the floor and it smashes into little bits. The iPhone does. This little nugget of wisdom occured to me when I did in fact drop my Black Jack II on the floor. Thankfully it's still working 100%... did I mention the BJII is incredibly durable for it's size? Anyway, my little brain started going and I got to thinking, this is the greatest phone I've ever had. It's not flashy, no bells and whistles, no touch screen, it just works and does everything all the other "smart phones" can do. What if it had broken? These little buggers are over $120 even on eBay. For a cell phone hater like myself to spend that much money on a two year old phone just would be too painful to handle.
My iPhone curiosity is slowly getting the better of me as I work with more and more of them at my office. They fully support Exchange (free) and people are writing some really clever apps for them and the previous version is only $99... I'm not sure what it will do to my plan (I already have AT&T) but I'm probably willing to try it out. It should do everything my BlackJack II does, with a few more options. So if my phone ever does get dropped, smashed or end up in the bottom of some water filled vessel, I might just pick myself a $99 iPhone.
